New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III becomes the first album in over three years to sell a million copies in just one week. Lil Wayne’s album sold 1,006,000 copies to debut at #1 on Nielsen/SoundScan’s list of the best-selling albums in the U.S. That’s the biggest sales week since rapper 50 Cent’s The Massacre, moved 1,141,000 units to grab #1 in March 2005. After rampant bootlegging and much controversy rap fans flocked to the stores last week to secure their copy of Mr. “long hair don’t care”’s Tha Carter III which features the smash single Lollipop featuring the late Static Major, Mr. Carter featuring Jay-Z and the infectious “A Milli” plus many more Hip Hop tracks.
