On February 28, 2008 legendary songwriter and producer Static Major passed in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky after a botched medical procedure to treat a non life threatening virus. According to his bother-in-law doctors at the Baptist East Hospital were attempting to a remove a shunt from his neck which was used to treat the virus and Static lost too much blood resulting in his death.
Today (May 4) numerous celebrities including Lil Wayne, Timbaland and Dem Franchise Boyz will converge at the City Block venue in Static Major’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to pay tribute to the songwriter/producer. Static Major is responsible for a number of hits including Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody”, “Come Back in One Piece”, “We Need a Resolution”, “Rock the Boat”, “More Than a Woman”, and the number-one single “Try Again” Static also wrote for Nicole Wray “Eyes Better Not Wander” and Destiny’s Child “Say My Name Timbaland’s Remix”, Truth Hurts’ “Addictive”, Brandy’s “Come as You Are”, Jay-Z “Don’t Change The Game”, Jamie Foxx “Can I Take You Home” Diddy “Tell Me” feat. Christina Aguilera 50 Cent “Fire” feat. the Pussycat Dolls, Timbaland & Magoo “Luv 2 Luv U”, Truth Hurts “Addictive” and Nas “You Owe Me” feat. Ginuwine and Playa “Cheers 2 U” as well as Lil Wayne’s current hit single “Lollipop” and many more.
According to AllHipHop, Static Major’s planned solo Album release will still go forward as an OG music/Blackground Records/Universal release, titled Suppertime, which will feature the lead single “I Got My” feat. Lil Wayne. Static was an amazing songwriter and producer who has penned the soundtrack to all our lives and will surely be missed. RIP Static Major
