According to the Associated Press, the jurors needed less than one day to deliver a not guilty verdict in the R. Kelly Child-porn case. The R&B superstar was acquitted of all charges ending the six year ordeal.

Kelly hugged each of his four attorneys after the verdict was read. As he left the court dozens of fans screamed and cheered as he got into an SUV that awaited him.
Prosecutors had argued that a video tape mailed to the Chicago Sun-Times in 2002 showed R. Kelly engaging in graphic sex acts with a girl as young as 13 at the time. Both R. Kelly, 41, and the alleged victim now 23 denied they were the ones on the tape.

The prosecution’s star witness was a woman who said she had engaged in a threesome with Kelly and the alleged victim. While the defense’s star witness was the woman’s ex-fiancé, Damon Pryor, who claimed that she was attempting to extort R. Kelly with two other men from Kansas who allegedly set up the R&B superstar.

“These [were] guys in Kansas named Chuck and Keith that she was saying were trying to put some tapes together on R. Kelly,” Pryor told AllHipHop. “Those are the words she used. And in conversation I remember them calling and I was like who is this? There were several people in contact with her.”

Pryor ended his engagement to the prosecution’s star witness Lisa Van Allen in 2006.

R. Kelly faced up to 15 years in prison on 14 counts related to the child porn case.
