After Jean Grae published a blog entry that suggested she was quiting the rap game Grae’s manager spoke with AllHipHop stating he was doubtful she will quit. Corey Smyth, her manager and head of her label Blacksmith Music, said “She’s real emotional when it comes to this music thing. She upset with the state of music. As talented as Jean is, [she is] real disillusioned with music,” “We’re putting out records. That’s all I know,”
According to Smyth, Blacksmith Music will release Jean Grae’s highly anticipated collaboration with producer 9th Wonder “Jeanius” in June 2008 and fans will also get their hands on her new solo project “Prom Night” which is yet to be completed.
Smyth said “She may retire, but the record’s gonna come regardless,”
So it looks like Jean is just not feeling the current climate of Hip Hop but may just need some more encouragement from her fans.
