On May 25, 2008 Fox News contributor and former New York bureau chief of The Washington Times, Liz Trotta made news after expressing in a joking fashion on air with Fox News a desire that U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama be assassinated prior to the 2008 United States presidential election.

What’s really good with all this assignation talk? It is especially disturbing coming from women who have had to fight throughout their careers in male dominated professions for respect from their peers just like Barack Obama has to fight everyday to defy bigotry in his bid to become the first ever African American to be President of the United States.

Liz Trotta, was the first woman to cover a war for broadcast news. Much like Hillary Clinton, who would be the first ever female to become president of the United States, Liz Trotta has broken barriers and defied the bigotry that obviously still exists in America today. Yet she can sit on National Network Television and joke about Barack Obama being assassinated? Do these bigots not have any tact in 2008? Are we even in the year 2008 or are we still somehow in The Dark Ages?

We have come to expect such tastelessness from Hillary Clinton who in every Primary address since she has been losing to Senator Obama has blatantly lied to voters. She now boldly claims to holds the lead in the popular vote because of her lopsided wins in the Florida and Michigan primaries even though she signed documents in agreement that the votes there would not count and that she would not campaign in either state because the two states knowingly broke the DNC rules. Furthermore, Barack Obama had his name removed from the contest in Michigan due to their primary being outside of party rules. However, now when she needs the votes, Clinton is conniving tells voters in both states that if the DNC does not count their votes they are being disenfranchised be the party.

This is the same Hillary Clinton who claims if Barack Obama is to secure the nomination she will get behind him and unify the party. More lies! She clearly has no intention of getting behind Senator Obama many feel she is stating in the race in hopes some sort of untimely demise will befall Barack Obama and she could still win the nomination.

Now we have Liz Trotta adding fuel to the fire saying “if only we could [assassinate] both [Obama and Osama]” after a tongue slip where she calls Senator Obama, Osama.

I sincerely hope for both Liz Trotta’s and Hillary Clinton’s sake nothing untimely befalls Barack Obama.
